VIR Tech:
Responsibilities for Night Shift CT • On call, the VA ED/clinician needs to page you to discuss the after hours CT case, after which they order the study. At that point, it is your responsibility to page the VA CT tech to let them know about the case/protocol. • In the event that the in house technologist is involved with diagnostic studies (traumas or codes) and the CT scan cannot wait for the technologist to become available, the on call technologist will be called in. • The house technologist will be accountable to the radiologist on call only and will take study information and protocols from that physician with the exception of stroke protocols. • Stroke protocol: it is not necessary to wait for a call from the radiologist for a stroke protocol study from either ER or in house. • The in house technologist will not be responsible for emergency CT guided studies for Interventional radiology. The on call technologist will need to be contacted by the IR team.
