The Department of Radiology in the UCSD Medical Center offers a comprehensive range of imaging services and advanced procedures to diagnose a wide variety of conditions. Our radiology specialists have expertise in virtually every imaging area, including abdominal imaging, breast imaging, neuroradiology, interventional and vascular radiology, musculoskeletal radiology and ultrasound. Additionally, the department has a dedicated Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Institute. The department is chaired by William G. Bradley, Jr. M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.R., one of the world's leading experts in MRI. Dr. Bradley has received the Gold Medals of the ISMRM and the RSNA for his pioneering work in MRI. He specializes in Neuro-MRI, having described the basis for time of flight MR angiography, ie, flow related enhancement, and having identified methemoglobin as the cause of subacute hemorrhage. He has performed research on normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) for the last 25 years and has recently proposed an etiology for the "idiopathic" form.
