Tudor Hesketh Hughes is Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology at the Department of Radiology at University of California, San Diego.  He trained as a physician in the UK, at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, part of the University of London, attaining MB BS in 1984.  He then went into a Surgical training program at the Yeovil District Hospital in Somerset, where he attained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) in 1988.  He then switched to Radiology training and joined the program at The Middlesex Hospital and University College Hospital, again both part of the University of London, attaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) in 1991.  Fellowship training in Musculoskeletal Radiology was at the University of California at San Diego in 1992/3, staying on for an extra year as junior faculty.  Dr. Hughes then traveled to the country of his birth to work as a Radiologist at both the Christchurch Hospital (public/University of Otago), and in practice with the Christchurch Radiology Group.  Seven years later he returned to join the faculty at UCSD.
Dr. Hughes is principally interested in Clinical Radiology and teaching, and has lectured extensively around the World on his specialty of Musculoskeletal Radiology.  He also has interests in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and new MRI sequences.  He is the founder and sole author of Bonepit.com, the UCSD musculoskeletal web site.
Dr. Hughes is foremost a family man with his wife Kelly and three boys; Geraint, Griffith and Rhett.
