Dr. Rivera-Sanfeliz attended medical school in his native Puerto Rico and completed his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center. After finishing his four-year active duty tour with the United States Air Force in 1996, he completed a fellowship in the subspecialty of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. He is board certified in both Diagnostic Radiology and Vascular/Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Rivera-Sanfeliz is currently an Associate Professor of Radiology and a member of the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center. He is the Chief of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the San Diego Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the Medical Director of the UC Vein Center in San Diego. His areas of clinical interest and research include aortic stent-grafts, carotid and renal stenting, varicose veins, liver and biliary interventions, portal hypertension, uterine fibroids, cancer therapy, and genitourinary interventions.

Dr. Rivera-Sanfeliz is an active member of the American College of Radiology, the Society of Interventional Radiology, the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe, and the Puerto Rico Urological Society.
