Dr. Gary Ghahremani received his M.D. degree cum laude in 1965 from the University of Freiburg in Germany. Following completion of radiology residency program at the University of Chicago Hospitals, he joined the faculty of that institution and subsequently served three years as an Associate Professor and Chief of Gastrointestinal Radiology Section at the Medical College of Virginia.
From July 1976 until his retirement in June 2000, Dr. Ghahremani was Professor and Chairman, Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Evanston Hospital-Northwestern University Medical Center in Evanston, Illinois. He is currently a Professor Emeritus at Northwestern University, as well as a Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of California Medical Center in San Diego.
Dr. Ghahremani has published 130 scientific articles, edited several books including Iatrogenic Gastrointestinal Complications, and has written multiple chapters in 12 textbooks. He has also presented over 230 papers and exhibits at the medical meetings in the United States or abroad. He has been Editor-in-Chief of the subspecialty journals Gastrointestinal Radiology (1975-92) and Abdominal Imaging (1992-96), and continues as an Editorial Board Member of the latter publication.
