Assistant Adjunct Professor
Department of Radiology
University of California, San Diego

Dr. Hall has over 10 years experience in time-domain (TD) optical imaging in vivo and is an expert in the field. Having received his Ph.D. in Medical Physics from University College London (UCL), researching TD optical imaging and its potential for breast imaging, he continued at UCL for a short period as a Postdoctoral Fellow developing a clinical prototype for TD optical breast and neonatal brain imaging. He then joined the industrial sector and spent 3 years as the Senior Scientist at Imaging Diagnostic Systems Inc. (FL, USA) which has developed a CW optical breast imaging device, CTLM®. For the following 4 years, Dr. Hall led the scientific research at Advanced Research Technologies, ART Inc. (Montreal, Canada) as Chief Scientist. Under his guidance, ART developed TD optical imaging devices for breast imaging, SoftScan®, now in FDA clinical trials and small animal molecular imaging, eXplore Optix™, which is distributed worldwide by GE Healthcare. Dr. Hall  decided to return to academia and accepted an appointment at UCSD to establish the Optical Imaging Laboratory in 2004.
