Experience:
Dr. Amilcare Gentili received Doctor of Medicine degree his (Magna Cum laude) in 1983 from the University of Pavia (top ten percent graduate). He completed a Nuclear Medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami in 1986, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland in 1992. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology and by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. After his residency, Dr. Gentili remained on the medical staff as an attending physician at University Hospitals of Cleveland for an additional year as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at Case Western University, Cleveland, Ohio. Then for the following 10 years he was an Assistant Professor and later an Associate Professor of Radiological Sciences at UCLA, Los Angeles, California and Assistant Chief of Radiology at West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. In September, 2002, he became a faculty member at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center and presently is a Clinical Professor of Radiology at UCSD and Assistant Chief of Radiology at San Diego VA Medical Center.
Dr. Gentili has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications, 9 book chapters, 35 scientific abstracts, 99 educational exhibits and numerous web based publications (http://www.gentili.net). He reviews for the American Journal of Roentgenology and is an editor for eMedicine. His educational exhibits at the Radiological Society of North America and American Roentgen Ray Society have won one Bronze medal, eleven Certificate of Merits, and two Awards for Excellence in Design.
Dr. Gentili’s clinical and research Interests include MR imaging of the musculoskeletal system, musculoskeletal neoplasm, musculoskeletal biopsy, radiology informatics and musculoskeletal radiology education on the Internet.
