Dr. Michael Andre is an established senior scientist with extensive experience as a clinically-oriented medical physicist, as an educator of medical students, graduate students and residents, and in the leadership of numerous societies and publications. He has an international reputation as a leading researcher in breast imaging, particularly breast ultrasound, computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) and unique imaging instrumentation. He was a pioneer in whole-breast ultrasound using computed tomographic techniques and he jointly developed the first CADx system for breast sonography. His research group continues to innovate upon these developments even as they move towards FDA approval this year. The first studies in whole-breast digital mammograms were conducted by Dr. Andre’s group and they continue to be leaders in translational research on novel breast imaging modalities and applications.
