The UCSD Medical Center Radiology Department offers a comprehensive range of imaging services and advanced procedures to diagnose a wide variety of conditions.
Our radiology specialists have expertise in virtually every imaging area, including:
Additionally, the department has four state of the art MRI systems including one at the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Institute where groundbreaking MRI research is also performed.
UCSD recently installed San Diego’s first clinical 3T MRI system at the Moores Cancer Center. Since this is twice the field strength of the conventional 1.5T “high field” scanners, it is the most advanced MR imaging system available in the county.
The department is chaired by William G. Bradley, Jr., M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.R., one of the world's leading experts in MRI. Dr. Bradley and Dr. Graeme Bydder are both pioneers in what is generally considered to be the most powerful imaging technique available. Both have been involved in MRI since the late 1970s and have contributed substantially to the world’s literature in this field.
