UCSD is the only medical facility in the San Diego area to provide PET ammonia heart perfusion imaging, which is used to assess for the presence of coronary artery disease (CAD). PET ammonia heart imaging can be used to perform quantitative assessment of heart perfusion and requires the use of a cyclotron to generate the imaging agent.
Heart PET and SPECT perfusion and viability imaging with ammonia, FDG, Sestamibi and Thallium. Evaluation of heart function/ejection fraction with tagged red blood cells.
Specific requirements will be provided by the scheduler, including the withholding of certain blood pressure medications.
